Hope everyone is having a great day! This week, I wanted to share a little background about my quest to achieve longer, fuller lashes. For the longest time, I’ve envied my friends, family, co- workers, and complete strangers born with naturally long lashes AND those who opted for lash extensions. But recently, I feel like I’ve reached a breakthrough using a combination of two products: a growth serum and mascara. Interested in learning more? Please keep reading. I can’t wait to share my experiences!
A little bit about me: I’ve never hated my natural lashes after a couple coats of mascara, but could they be better? Yep! I was born with short, semi-full upper lashes with a slight curl (perfect combo of my mom and dad). My lowers lashes…ummm, what lower lashes? After many years, I came to the conclusion that it’s pointless to even apply mascara to my lowers. I consider myself a skilled makeup enthusiast, so it’s not like I need schooling on how to apply mascara. But, sometimes you just have to know when to say when.
Maybe it’s my stubbornness, belief in the beauty industry or combo of both..but I haven’t given up hope to find a perfectly matched set of products that will allow me to look in the mirror and think, “Hey, are those MY lashes?!” rather than “Man, I wish I could wear false lashes every day without looking too made up!”
Which brings me to my Love My Lashes Event. Over the next two days, I’ll share my journey dabbling in a handful of growth serums and a bucket load of mascaras. Today, I’ll be focusing on a mascara that has made a drastic change in my lash game. My next post will be devoted to lash growth serums.
Have you ever bought a mascara, used it for a day or two thinking this is it, this is the one? That’s been me for years. Either the formula ends up being too thick, too drying or the brush is too big, too small. Over the weekend, I made a point to purchase It Cosmetics Superhero™ Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara at Sephora. I had just emptied my Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara, had a return and wanted to pick up my Bite Birthday Gift anyway, so needless to say, I thought the timing was perfect. By the way, the Marc Jacobs mascara was very impressive, but it weighed down my lashes quite a bit and I wanted to try something new.
It Cosmetics has caught my eye over the past few years. Their makeup brushes are PHENOMENAL and I’ve had wonderful results with their Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ and Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder.
Special Note: For every Love Beauty Fully™ brush sold, It Cosmetics donates one to Look Good Feel Better® to help women face the effects of cancer with confidence.
Enter, Superhero™ Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara.
A game-changing mascara that gives lashes the appearance of volume, length, and elastic stretch in just one coat.
What else you need to know:
This product was developed with surgeons and dermatologists. It is clinically tested, talc-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and cruelty-free.
The pros: My lashes (uppers and lowers) are twice as long with this mascara after ONE COAT. They look thicker, longer and the product comes off like a dream with a simple cleanser paired with a Wondercloth.
The cons: It’s a bit drying and can appear a little “spidery” with more than one coat.
My tip to combat clumping: Remove access mascara from the wand on the edge of the tube before applying. I find this makes a big difference and allows for a cleaner application.
All in all, I give this mascara 4 thumbs up out of 5. It’s definitely worth a try!
Look for my post about Lash Growth Serums tomorrow!
